Bo's 1st Prayer

Bo said his first independent prayer on Monday, November 23, 2009.
"God, thank you for big Woody, baby Dani Lynn, Mommy, Daddy, and Prissy, that's it...Amen"

He is totally and completely into Toy Story. Buzz and Woody are his world and his new "cousin" Dani Lynn is most always not far from his mind. She is the daughter of our best friends Justin and Terra, and she is the first baby that he has had a lot of contact with. He is not jealous of her at all and doesn't mind Terry and I holding her. In his words, "She's, so cute!".

Halloween and Thanksgiving have come and gone without a blog post. To catch up, Bo was Buzz Lightyear for Trunk or Treat and he was Joe from Blue's Clues again this year for Trick or Treating. The costume still fit and he wanted to wear it, so we said "Why not?".

Thanksgiving was enjoyable and relaxed. It was interesting for me, because I had 8 teeth extracted the Thursday before Thanksgiving. My Mother-in-Law had both sweet and regular mashed potatoes and my Mom had a Cajun menu that had lots of rice dishes. They were sweet to consider my tender mouth in meal preparations. This past Monday I had braces put on, so I am still not up to eating much more than things that are super soft. The worst is over and I look forward to non-crowded teeth in my future!

Black Friday shopping is an annual event for Terry, myself and his cousin. Terry and I have shopped on BF every year since 2001, his cousin joined in around 2004 or 2005. It is always an interesting experience to say the least. This year by far has been the craziest, at least it was for Terry. At about 8:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving night, we were getting into bed when his phone rang. It was his best friend, Harold, who we usually meet up with at some point during our BF adventure. He asked what we were doing and Terry explained that we were going to bed, so we could leave at 4:30 a.m. to be at Toys R Us, when they opened at 5:00 a.m., in hopes of finishing all of our shopping in time to get home and watch the Iron Bowl. Harold informed Terry that Toys R Us actually opened at midnight and that he and his wife were leaving at 10:00 p.m. to get in line. Long story shorter, after much back in forth, it was decided that they would come and pick Terry up on the way to the line. It ended up being the right decision, because Terry put his hands on the very last item in the store that Bo has talked about non-stop since mid-summer! Santa has been informed that Bo's heart is totally set on a new Buzz Lightyear, "his wings 'POP' up and he's in a Spaceship box" and a new Woody "with a pull string". Thanks to Terry's efforts we were able to find the BEST pricing on these items. He was home and back in bed by 2:00 a.m., only to get up at 4:00 a.m. and head back out at 4:30 a.m. to be in line at Best Buy with his cousin. It was a great day and I only had to nudge him once or twice when he started to stare off! We finished all we had to do and made it home in time to watch the Iron Bowl, then he was off to bed by 8:00 p.m. What a guy!!!

As usual the typically busy Christmas season is upon us. I hope to remember to blog about some of it!

Nineteen

Have you heard this song by Taylor Hicks? I heard it a few months ago on Rick & Bubba and had Terry put it on my iPod. It came up in my shuffle this morning on the way in to work. It really makes you think about a soldiers bravery and sacrifice! Look it up if you haven't heard it...it's worth a listen.

Nineteen
The number on his back wore the captain of
The high school football team
Took us all the way to state
Got a scholarship to play down in Tennessee
He could catch he could throw he could run he
Could go like you've never seen
Nineteen
But on the day those twin towers came down
His whole world turned around
He told them all I can't play ball there's a war on now
He marched right in with a few good
Men and joined the marines
At nineteen
[Chorus]
He's a boy next door
He might of carried your bags at the grocery store
Now he's somebody's son in a hole
With a gun in a foreign land
Trying to hold on to his
American dream
At nineteen
There's a sniper out there in the dark
Somewhere and a soldier is down
Need someone who can duck and run and get him out somehow
What one good man will raise his hand
And take one for the team
How bout you nineteen?
[Chorus]
He's a boy next door
He might of carried your bags at the grocery store
Now he's somebody's son in a hole
With a gun in a foreign land
Trying to hold on to his American dream
Nineteen
Nineteen
Brought him home today with a big
Parade down on main street
Gotta Purple Heart and a Silver Star soldier gave a speech
Said he could catch he could throw he could
Run he's the one that rescued me...
could have played for Tennessee
He was nineteen
He was only nineteen
God Bless America and God Bless our Service Men and Women!

We still exist...

We're still here, just not been in the blogging frame of mind. Hope to get back to it soon!
Bo is doing GREAT!! He started K3-Prep this year. This will be his last year at the daycare and will start going to school with his Daddy next year. His vocabulary has grown tremendously and the phrase of the week is, "Mommy, can you tell me what we doing?" or "...can you tell me where we going?". He loves ALL things Toy Story and is looking forward to getting Big "Woody" with a pull string for Christmas from Santa. Hopefully, that's still what he's wanting by that time. We've heard that the movie will be re-released in theaters in October, in 3D I believe, in preparation for part 3 coming out next Summer. If the movie comes to theaters here, this will be Bo's first "Big Movie" outing.

Tomorrow is my sweet husband's birthday. We hope to go to dinner and see G.I. Joe. He was a major G.I. Joe guy when he was little, so has really been looking forward to it. Happy birthday my beloved, I hope this is the best year yet!

Here's a few of pictures from the Summer:

Bee bought him boots & a hat, just like "Woody"!

Daddy improvised a blue belt, like the "Fake Buzz" in Toy Story 2

Bo loves to Preach, Pray and Lead Singing after services!

Bo & Mommy after services one Sunday in July!

Until next time...hopefully sooner rather than later!

This Week...

...Terry is co-director at Gulf Coast Bible Camp. It is Junior Week, 1st through 5th Graders. It is not very far from home, so every morning around 8:00, Bo and I head out to the camp. I am having to work this year, but I've arranged to come in late and still get off at 5:00. He gets to stay with Daddy and as the pictures show, he is having a GRAND time!!!
Playing with the BIG ball on the Softball Field (Monday)

Future Tether Ball Champion (Monday)

End of Day One...Just a Lil' Bit DIRTY!!

Swinging with my buddies Ellen and Maegan (Tuesday)

Checking cabins with Daddy & Uncle G...found the coolest bed...Spiderman sleeping bag, Superman sheets & Toy Story mattress cover!!!! All his favorites! (Wednesday)

Climbed a tree...Camp is FUN!!!! (Wednesday)
This has been a tiring week for all of us, but he is having so much fun!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed the daily road trips, listening to "You've Got a Friend in Me!" (Toy Story) over and over. As well as, "Everybody was Kung Foo Fighting" (Kung Foo Panda) and "I like to Move it, Move it" (Madagascar) or "I like to 'Boot' it, 'Boot' it" as my 2 year old says.
I think Bible Camp will by far always be one of his summer highlights...I know it was for me. Hopefully next year, I will be able to get back to being a counselor or staff member and be there for the whole week!
Until next time...

All's Well!!!

Bo did great with his tube surgery! Terry and I did ok as well! We were a little beyond nervous! Terry bought him some Superman pajamas to wear and he was so excited. The most difficult part was not being able to feed him or give him anything to drink when he woke up the morning of his surgery. We had been in prayer about that and God did provide. He did not ask for his cup until we were almost to the surgery center and I told him he could have it after he saw the doctor. He was fine with that and did not put up a fuss of any kind.

His Bee & PawPaw and his Meme & Poppa all came to wait with us and he was excited to show them the identification bracelet the receptionist gave him. She even put one on his "Picky Mouse".

When it came time for him to go back for the surgery, I think Terry and I experienced our greatest anxiety! Two nurses came to get him, a younger female surgical nurse and an older gentleman was the nurse anesthetist. The nurse anesthetist saw his Superman pajamas and asked him if he liked to fly and Bo said yes. He said, "Do you want to come with me and fly?" He promptly picked him up and Bo instantly put his head down on the man's shoulder and he was whisked away to surgery.

We never heard him cry and I'm sure they would not have told us if he did. Literally about 10 minutes later the doctor came out to tell us that everything went well. He had lots of fluid on his ears, but the ears were not yet infected. (Just 6 days before when he was checked, there was no fluid.)

We were brought back to the recovery room where he was sleeping peacefully. The nurse eventually had to wake him up, I think he was enjoying the rest! They gave him a cup of juice and a Popsicle. He was more concerned with being able to sit in the little blue chair they let him sit in before they took him back to surgery!

We took him home and you would have never thought he had anything done. He was a little unbalanced at first, but after a couple of hours, we were having to remind him to slow down and not jump everywhere! The only time he seemed to experience any pain was when he woke up from his nap, but some Motrin and a snack seemed to make it all better!

We are very greatful for all the prayers that were said on his and our behalves!

Until next time...

A Message from Bo...

My mommy has been super busy and super tired and has not gotten around to blogging in almost two months!!! I thought it was high time to do something about it, so I'm going to update this thing!!!

Mommy's last post left off with an ominous (in blogworld I use big words like that) note about a case of Hand Foot and Mouth disease going around my school. Well wouldn't you know it, I caught it!!! Wouldn't you know the day we realized I had it was the day of my birthday party, during my party to be precise! I still had a great party, Nemo was the theme, we had an egg hunt, cake/cupcakes, family, friends and a lot of fun gifts!

My actual birthday was on Easter Sunday and because I had the yucky Hand Foot and Mouth stuff I was not able to go to church! The Easter Bunny did stop by my house and leave me a basket.

I got these really cool Diego sunglasses, which came in handy, I was up all night because of my mouth!
The glasses helped hide how tired I really was, maybe Daddy needed some Diego glasses too!

I was really upset that I couldn't go to church and tried to impress Mommy & Daddy with my ability to pick out church shoes......but I had to stay home anyway. It was surely a miserable day, followed by a miserable night! The next day was my annual check up and Mommy & Daddy say I have the best doctor in the world. I would have to agree, he gave me some Tylenol with codeine, so we could all get some much needed sleep. He also instructed my parents that I had to stay away from the public for 10 days. Fortunately Daddy was on Spring Break, so Mommy didn't have to miss a whole bunch of work! My grandparents had pity on us all and came by to visit. Bee gave me a lesson in washing dishes and for some reason my Mommy keeps saying this will come in handy in the future. I don't know about that......but it sure was fun!! PawPaw came by to visit me and rode over on his bike. I was a little hesitant to get on at first, but I figured since it's here I should give it a spin!I settled for sitting on it by myself in the driveway, but look out in a few years, I'll be ready to tear up the rodes with my PawPaw. I probably need to be able to reach the handlebars first! It took every bit of the 10 days for me to recover from the Hand Foot & Mouth stuff, only to be sidelined with terrible ear infections!!! No fun whatsoever!!!

Mommy has decided that she needs to step in here to fill in what is going on with me now, so until next time!!!

As stated above, my little guy has been battling some major ear infections over the last almost 8 weeks. He was treated with Omnicef, Augmentin and Rocephin shots. The ENT said that once we got to the Rocephin shots, it was time for tubes. He will be having tubes inserted some time early tomorrow morning. I solicit your prayers at this time!! I know that it is a routine procedure and Terry has been to many many many of these surgeries as a minister, but he said it is suddenly different when it is your own child. These tubes will hopefully bring him much needed relief and he will finally be able to kick the ear infections!

Until next time...
